USDA AND APHIS HELD THE FIRST IPPC EPHYTO AND EMERGING PEST WORKSHOP

AU-IAPSC was recently part of for African countries that was held at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Inspection Services (APHIS) offices in Maryland, USA.

Jointly organized by USDA and the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat, the workshop deliberations among others, centered around shaping the future of electronic phytosanitary certification around the world.

Participants were able to developed a strong understanding of the IPPC ePhyto Solution and more specifically the Generic ePhyto National System (GeNS) as well as prepare plans for implementing the same in their respective countries and the region.

It was agreed that AU-IAPSC will remain the central point of coordination between all the African countries and all other stakeholders.
