Continental consultative meeting on the development of the Plant Health Strategy for Africa starts today, with the forecast of providing guidance and direction to the plant health efforts that are much needed on the continent. It draws together Member States and various partners.

Join us today as we together celebrate Africa Day. Africa Day is observed annually on 25 May, to commemorate the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) which was created on 25 May 1963 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, later transformed into the African Union.

We are fully set for the 14th session of the AU-#IAPSC Steering Committee and the 29th session of AU-#IAPSC General Assembly, both taking place this week, virtually. We look forward to fruitful deliberations and sharing of best practices in plant health management in Africa.

Ahead of the Commission on Phytosanitary measures (CPM15) which commences tomorrow, today we hosted a virtual meeting for Africa-IPPC contracting parties, to deliberate and harmonize views for common position for Africa as a region, in relation to plant health.
